Meet the Team

LAStheatre is run by Barra Collins (Artistic Director) & Liz Bate (Producer)

BARRA COLLINS

Artistic Director
After studying Theatre at Goldsmiths and Trinity College Dublin, Barra worked in experiential marketing for clients including Warner Brothers and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.  He then returned to theatre, taking on both creative and management roles with Battersea Arts Centre, The Old Vic Tunnels, Manchester International Festival, Punchdrunk and the English National Opera. This varied experience fuels his collaborative approach to theatre making and led him to start LAStheatre.

Through LAStheatre, his focus is creating engaging shows for and with young people - work that opens cans of worms, starts conversation and ignites imaginations.

He is a visiting director and writer at Bath Spa University and a member of lecturing staff at the National Centre for Circus Arts.

LIZ BATE

Producer
Following her MA in Applied Theatre at Goldsmiths, Liz worked with the Old Vic as their Education Manager and the National Theatre in their Learning department.

Liz enjoys all kinds of theatre, but has a particular interest in theatre for younger audiences and those that include community groups and young people. This is reflected in the work she does with LAStheatre, working with young people to include their voice in our productions.

Alongside working with LAStheatre, Liz works with 1927 as their Associate Producer and the Donmar Warehouse as a Project Manager. She is also the director of MIGHTYmini productions, a company creating work for babies and their adults.
